Get in TouchI’m a PhD student at the Syracuse University School of Information Studies, where I am a member of the C4 Lab under the guidance of Dr Joshua Introne. I explore how communities of practice—such as Wikipedia editor groups—adapt when fresh information or shifting priorities emerge. Through computational simulations and agent-based models, I trace how teams form, grow, establish norms, and occasionally disband, redirecting their talent and knowledge elsewhere. These “adaptive cycles” ripple across scales: the collapse of a single team can sap contributor engagement and weaken the resilience of the entire project. My work asks how we can detect communities on the brink of collapse and design interventions—potentially with AI assistance—that keep contributors engaged and knowledge ecosystems thriving.
